How it began
Amanda Hutchinson and Dawn Blee, founders of London South East Tour Guides met in 2010 and struck up an instant rapport.
"It seemed like we’d known each other for years, and so we almost had - we'd been living parallel lives yet had never met, we had lived in the same areas of London, now we live in next door villages, our sons went to the same school, we have the same organisational flair, we have a similar taste in clothes, even our engagement rings and watches are almost identical!"
With all that in common they could hardly not get on!
"After qualifying as Blue Badge Tourist Guides we set up London and South East Tour Guides to offer our particular guiding 'personality' and a very English experience to visitors to London and the South East of England. Not surprisingly we have a very similar guiding style: entertaining, knowledgeable and flexible, and above all we both take great personal pride and pleasure in delighting our clients."
Blue Badge Tourist Guides are trained under the auspices of The Institute of Tourist Guiding which accredits training courses; each region requires up to two years study and examinations before successful candidates are awarded the coveted Blue Badge.

"As a perpetual student of history and art I love royal, ceremonial, historic, artistic and architectural London. Further afield I indulge my passions for beautiful and interesting buildings, gardens and countryside while exploring world famous and less well-known gardens, castles, cathedrals, stately homes, picturesque villages and scenery throughout the South East of England and beyond."
Qualifications and endorsements: BSc Hospitality Management, CIPD5 Learning & Development; Registered Blue Badge Tourist Guide for London and South East England; Institute of Tourist Guides (MITG); Board Director ITG; South East England Tourist Guides Association (SEETGA); Windsor Castle and Canterbury Cathedral site endorsements.
"It's the social history of England that is so exciting; how others lived, historical gossip and the contrast with today’s lifestyle. My favourites are English Royalty-especially King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn and the wonderful castles, palaces, cottages and gardens of England that provide the very essence of English-ness."
